THE VISION
The vision of Psalm 91 Ministry was given to Pastor John & First Lady Kimberly Matthews to launch in March of 2022. The ministry and its culture are based on our foundational scripture, Psalm 91, also known as the prayer of protection. We have been called to fulfill the great commission as stated in Matthew 28:16-20, to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to compel all to know Him as their personal savior, to be discipled, and to encourage a deeper and more personal relationship with Him. We believe that the vision of a ministry must be made clear in order for those following to run with it. 1 Habakkuk 2:2-3 KJV says, "Write the vision, and make it plain upon tablets, that he may run that reads it." As a ministry we exist to help believers foster a deeper relationship with God through Jesus Christ, with the help and guidance of the Holy Spirit, so that more people can live out His purpose and plan on earth. We do this by teaching His Word, loving His people, and developing Kingdom minded disciples to spread the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
MISSION:
WHAT DO WE BELIEVE?
We believe that the Holy Scriptures are infallible and inspired by God and written to mankind. We believe that God is Holy and mankind despite our best efforts are unholy as a result of the fall that we read about in Genesis 3. Romans 3:10-12 tells us "...it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one. no one understand, no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.” Despite our unrighteousness, under the unction of the Holy Spirit, John in the Gospel of John 3:16, he writes "for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son." Romans 3:25 declares that Jesus Christ is the propitiation or the atoning sacrifice in place for us for our sin, and that it is only through the acceptance of the Lord Jesus Christ and His shed blood on the cross that we can receive atonement for our sins.
The "foundation" of the doctrine of Christ and Christianity is found in Hebrews 6:1-3. The writer of Hebrews makes clear that the following are the foundational doctrines of Jesus Christ:
1. Repentance from dead works
2. Faith towards God
3. The doctrine of Baptisms
4. Laying on of hands
5. The resurrection from the dead
6. The doctrine that one day, we shall all stand before the judgement seat of God
WHAT DO WE BELIEVE ABOUT GIVING?
We believe that generosity is one of the characteristics of our Father in heaven, who created the whole world in six days, but then He immediately "GAVE" it away to Mankind (Adam and Eve). John 3:16 says "For God so loved the world that he "GAVE" His only begotten Son..." The Holy Scriptures teach that our Heavenly Father is very generous, and as His children we should try and resemble the characteristics of our Father in heaven. The Word promises that if we are generous, God will release His generosity upon us. In the gospel of Luke, the Lord said, "give and it shall be given unto to you..." These are the promises of God to His people. Generosity also helps us live out the fruit of selflessness and teaches us to place our reliance and trust in God alone. Resting in the assurance that our jobs, careers, businesses are all blessings, but they are only resources, while God is our "SOURCE." Giving back to God helps us to further the work of ministry and make an impact in our communities like feeding the poor and helping the helpless, but it also helps each of us to get a glimpse of our own soul and how we prioritize and recognize that He is the giver of all that we have.
II Corinthians 9:6-8, 10-15 says, "Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God LOVES a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work... Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!
WHAT PART DO WE PLAY IN HELPING THOSE IN NEED?
It is truly one of the mandates of the church as a collective to take care of the poor, the helpless, and those in need whenever possible. 1 John 3:16-18, "This is how we know what love is; Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and truth." Our desire is that this culture we create will carry on to those that come in contact with our ministry or those that have decided to partner with us to be an extension of this very scripture.
We believe that the Word of God is best explained in the ways that people best learn through the taught word, illustration, and demonstration. The Lord Jesus illustrated many of his teachings through the use of parables.
At Psalm 91 we strive to be an engaging and interactive church. Our aim is to make the Word of God clear and concise. If you are a kinesthetic learner which means you are a hands-on learner who loves to learn through tangible ways, then this is where you need to be. Maybe you are a visual or spatial learner and you learn best when you can visualize relationships & ideas, we've got that too. No matter what learning style best meets you or your family's need, we at Psalm 91 are here for you. Our goal is to make the Supernatural practical, so you and your family can make it applicable for your spiritual walk with Christ Jesus.
Families are the foundation of every ministry. We want to be a ministry that you are proud to invite your friends and family to. We believe in creating a family culture. Family game nights or movie nights will be a common occurrence because we believe that just like we need to spend time with God to strengthen that relationship, we need to spend time with God's people strengthen those relationships.
Connecting and fellowshipping are great ways to build community. This is our aim as a community of believers.
